Costa Rica has long been the most popular tourist destination in Central America, and its tradition of welcoming visitors is reflected in the country’s significant number of world-class hotels. An undisputed leader in eco-tourism and environmental awareness, Costa Rica is dotted with national parks that are rich in wildlife and stunning scenery, from the heights of the volcanic highlands to the shores of miles of white sand beaches.

Much of the popular Pacific Coast is now more accessible than ever before, with the opening of a new four-lane toll road from the capital of San Jose to the west coast, and most especially, the freshly paved Route 34 that extends the Pan American Highway from central Costa Rica to the southwest corner of the country and the border with Panama.
