The Riviera Nayarit, one of Mexico’s newest destinations, stretches along 192 miles of the pristine Pacific coast. Framed by the majestic Sierra Madre Mountain range, it is located just ten minutes north of the very accessible Puerto Vallarta International Airport. The region extends along the entire coast of the Pacific state of Nayarit, including the resorts of Nuevo Vallarta, the historic colonial town of San Blas, exclusive Punta Mita, picturesque fishing villages, miles of serene beaches and the spectacular Banderas Bay. The origins of Nayarit are found in the indigenous ethnic groups of the Cora and Huichol Indians who settled in the Sierra Madre; to this day preserving their rich culture and ancient beliefs through their unique beaded artwork. Nayarit has everything to offer...history, culture, traditions, stunning beaches, dense jungles and ecotourism.

Nature Lover’s Paradise

If your clients enjoy nature, this region of Mexico is the place to be. Migrating humpback whales pass through the Bay of Banderas from December through March, while July begins the nesting season for sea turtles. The Sierra Madre offers hiking, horseback riding and the ever-popular zip lining through the dense jungle canopy. Water sports are endless with sailing, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving, all available from nearby tours operators who have set up shop in the area. The largest operator, Vallarta Adventures (www.vallarta-adventures.com), is able to provide all types of excursions. Visitors to the region should be sure to pass by the smaller resort town of San Francisco (San Pancho to the locals) where they can take in a polo match at La Patrona Polo club, and Sayulita where local artisans sell their crafts along the streets, while surfers take to the waves.

It’s situated on a magnificent and pristine stretch of beach and has a young,

On the northern tip of the Bay of Banderas in Punta De Mita, visitors will find the incomparable Four Seasons Punta Mita (www.fourseasons.com/puntamita). Hosting a Jack Nicklaus golf course and the world’s only natural island green, this property is everything one would expect from a Four
Seasons resort.

Foodie Fantasy

The seas offer mahi-mahi, sea bass, oysters and shrimp. Local dishes include a variety of ceviches and pescado sarandeado (barbecued fish). In addition to the local cuisine, there are exceptional upscale restaurants and for clients who like to attend food festivals, there’s a great one in Nayarit each November. The gourmet food festival (www.festivalgourmet.com) headed by Chef Blouet attracts internationally known, award winning chefs into the region to prepare specialty dishes at local restaurants.
